Oatmeal Upsets my Stomach. I'm Going Paleo.

I've studied for a week and landed on the Caveman Diet.  I start 'hell week' tomorrow.

Several years ago I did a strict Atkins diet for several months.  I lost weight, and fast. I felt better than I have in many years.  My stomach flattened out.  My cravings were seriously gone.  So much so that I was able to hold a piece of garlic/cheese toast from Cascone's Italian Restaurant in my newly un-swelled fingers without a trace of temptation.  Miracle.

The downside of Atkins for me was that eventually I introduced carbs back into my diet and suffered what I have to believe was some kind of metabolic disorder.  My blood pressure shot up.  I became lethargic.  Unhealthy.  Depressed.  Add regular life with four teenagers in my home to the mix, plus, a healthy dose of running a growing business with 4/5 employees, a monstrous corporate sponsor (think franchise), and all the regular stuff that happens to female humans.  I'm not sure how it didn't kill me.

In spite of how fat I am, I am quite muscular.  The Caveman diet, Paleo, modified Atkins, whatever you wanna' call low carb, no grain, no dairy, no fast-food diets, appears to fit my body type.  And lifestyle.

The teenagers are all grown up, the business has divorced the corporate sponsor (thank you Jesus) and downsized to just me and my favorite clients.  The regular stuff that happens has slowed down to a reasonable level.

I think I'm ready for this new way of eating.  Plus, let me be perfectly frank, I love meat.  Ground beef, bacon, steak.   I'm convinced.  This will be fun.
